Well, you will be helping not only EAAA continue its mission, but you will also have a positive impact on the lives of seniors.
You will meet new people, perform meaningful work, laugh a lot, and go home with the feeling that you have made a true difference in your community.
Call us and we will tell you about the wonderful things people have to say about volunteering with us.
If you are looking for an opportunity that will make positive changes, an opportunity that will improve the quality of life for our older citizens, we’d like to have you join us.
And just as importantly, you’ll have a lot of fun.
EAAA’s Volunteer Director can be reached Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. If you would like to contact us, there are several ways to do it. Please see below:
Eastern Area Agency on Aging maintains medical and liability insurance on volunteers. The insurance is a secondary insurance, meaning it covers what the volunteer’s insurance does not cover. Volunteers are required to carry their own car insurance and proof of insurance will be requested.
No, they will not. Many people are under the misconception that their vehicle insurance rates will increase if they use their car for volunteering purposes.
According to the Maine Insurance Code, “An insurance company can not refuse to issue liability insurance solely because an applicant is a volunteer driver – nor can they impose a surcharge or increase rates solely on that basis.”
Eastern Area Agency on Aging will ask you to fill out an application. Then we’ll ask you to sign an agreement that you have read, and agree with, our volunteer policies. We will ask you to supply two references, which will be checked. Some positions may also require a background check. All volunteers receive an orientation to the agency and additional training is provided according to the type of activity chosen.
