Senior Home Share

Eastern Area Agency on Aging has a new program called Senior Home Share. Seniors who want to share their homes contact EAAA and fill out applications which are kept on file in the hope that a suitable match will be found. People in search of a home to share contact us as well.

The reasons for sharing homes are varied. For some, it is a temporary thing where one person closes up his or her house and moves in with a senior so both can save money on fuel. Then in the spring he or she moves back home. In some cases, the person with the home to share is looking for a more permanent situation as in a senior looking for someone to share expenses and to help around the house.

If you have a home to share or are looking for a new place to live, call EAAA. We currently have many applications on file from people just waiting for a roommate. We, of course, advise people to spend some time together before deciding on a move as it is a big step, especially if it is to last beyond winter.

We cannot offer guarantees about how everyone will get along so when you talk with potential roommates consider likes and dislikes.

EAAA can offer a basic rental agreement form and connect people interested in sharing.
